Qeynos Tier 1 Guide

The Qeynos Tier 1 zones can generate platinum as early as level 9, but generally these zones are best for levels 11-17.  Turn combat experience off early if you intend to do repeat loot runs.

The Forest Ruins is an interesting and well-done newbie zone.  The nature of the zone changes at nightfall.  You can find more named mobs at night than in the daytime.

Zone into The Forest Ruins from either Baubbleshire or Willow Wood.  This zone is not reachable from the bell.

#1 A Rabid Badger.  Kill badgers in this area to spawn him.  Level 6 solo mob.

#2 As you approach the keep, you will see a ring of rocks to the west.  Inside this ring a named mob can spawn:  A Black Asp.  Level 7 solo mob.

#3 When you enter the keep look up at the statue of the Gargoyle,  The Basalt Watcher - this mob comes alive at certain times, usually just before 7am game time - but not always.  This is a level 13 ^^^ group mob - difficult if he cons above green.  Non-aggro.

#4 Sorn Copperhold's Remains, a named mob in the back room of the building.  Level 8-10 solo mob.  Nighttime only.

#5 Yestura Rhamrey's Remains, a named mob in the ruined building to the east at the top of the stairs.  Level 8-10 solo mob.  Nighttime only.

#6 Kinloc Flamepaw's Remains, in the alcove below and to the west of the tower.  Level 12 solo encounter, non-aggro.  Nighttime only.

#7 Dig Supervisor T'narl, in the Ruined Mage Tower.  Level 11, fairly easy group mob.  Daytime only.

#7 The Spectral Headmaster, in the Ruined Mage Tower.  Level 11, solo encounter.  Non-aggro.  Nighttime only.

#8 Dig Supervisor T'narl, if you notice a zone alert:  "Dig Supervisor T'narl rallies the Blackfurl forces for an assault on the castle" -- it will be 2 group encounters coming from the beach and running to the tower.  Captain Riplung's group is level 12, T'narl's group is level 11.  This can happen in the day or night.  ** Note, you must engage the named mobs to avoid bugging the encounter.  If you attack the troops without the named mobs then they will likely stop fighting and become no-loot, no-experience.

Due to the level range of the mobs in this zone, you won't be able to kill all of them.  If you are high enough to kill the Basalt Watcher, then A Rabid Badger and A Black Asp will be grey to you, probably Yestura and Sorn as well.  Don't worry though, there are plenty of named mobs to hit as you progress through this guide.  After you've taken out your targets in The Forest Ruins it's time to zone out to Baubbleshire or Willow Wood and grab the bell to The Caves.

There are 2 maps for The Caves, but it is really 3 floors.  When you first appear in The Caves you will be on the bottom floor.  To get to The Pale Broodmother you need to go through the mineshaft.  The darker color on map 1 represents the web-filled caves on the bottom floor.  When you are ready to go up the second floor, follow the path behind the waterfall.  When you are ready to head to the top (Map 2) follow the path shown in the NE section.
#1  The Pale Broodmother.  Level 10 solo mob.  She is on the bottom floor, take the mineshaft to reach her.

#2  Smithy Slampaw.  Level 10 solo mob.  Smithy is on the second floor, take the path behind the waterfall to reach him.

#3  Dustcaller Sleg.  You can tell he's up if you see ghost bats on the mound.  Level 11 Group ^^.

#4  The Devoured.  Level 13 Group ^^^.  Ghost gnoll spawns inside the skull.  More difficult than other level 13 ^^^ group mobs.  Bring a health potion and prepare well for the fight.

#5  Neddris.  Level 12 group ^^.  Tough, but not as hard as ^^^ mobs.

#6.  Warmonger Gurne.  Level 14 Group.  Fairly easy.

#7  Atramentor.  Level 14 Group ^^^.  2nd toughest mob in the zone.  Has a long aggro range.  If he is up and the room is full, inch slowly towards room to get him to come out alone.  If he isn't up, then clearing the room may make him appear - just make sure you don't fight in the room, which could cause you to spawn him without being prepared to fight.

#8  Slaver Jaw.  Level 16 Group ^^^.  Toughest mob in the zone...he's really too high to be in a newbie zone.  Very rare that anyone kills him.  He walks from the top to the bottom, then back up before despawning.  You will likely want to stay out of his way.

The Caves has some of the more challenging mobs of the newbie zones.  While your here you should probably pick up the Chirannite Threat Totems from gnoll corpses and learn the Gnoll language.  The Caves is easy to navigate, you can pop in - hunt down your targets and grab the bell to the next zone:  Oakmyst Forest.

#1  Grubdigger.  Level 15 ^^^ group mob.  Very difficult.  He spawns and despawns near location #1.  After spawning he will walk a wide area, keep an eye out for him while traveling through this zone.  It's likely most will want to avoid him.

#2  Karach the Spider Queen.  Level 9 solo mob.  The placeholder for Karach is A Molting Spider.

#3  Ambassador Kialee.  Level 11 easy group mob.  Located on the bridge, non-aggro.

#4  Ferith 'Anar.  Level 11 ^^^ group mob.  Difficult fight if you are close in level.  Non-aggro, roams a wide area around the fairies.

#5  N'Almia the Corruptor.  Level 11 easy group mob.  Large aggro range, stand at the edge of the water and she will come to you.

#6  Rotweed.  Level 13 ^^^ difficult group mob.  After you clear the island in the cave, then you must walk onto the island for Rotweed to spawn.  3 little rotweeds spawn in first wave, he spawns after they are defeated.

Now it's time to head back to Forest Ruins.  This 3 zone loot run should generate a substantial income for you.  There are named mobs in Peat Bog and Down Below - but these 3 zones should keep you busy enough.  Be sure to check out the LootRun Primer if you haven't already.
